Christmas Movement for Health pre-campaign brought to a successful conclusion

    More than 650 women in our country have been informed about the danger of breast cancer by the Social Mission of Deaconry of Bessarabian Metropolitan by means of a symbolic apple. Each of them received an apple together with a small brochure providing general information about this affection, a discount flyer for all types of insurance with VICTORIA Asigurari and an invitation to free thermography. The promotion was part of a breast cancer prevention campaign called “An Apple for Your Health”, supported by EuTV channel, Avon Cosmetics Company, Victoriabank Commercial Bank, Victoria Asigurari insurance company and World Council of Churches. An Apple for Your Health campaign was carried out in the period of 3-14 November and is part of a larger program implemented by the Deaconry since 2005 with a view to preventing breast cancer. The said campaign was carried out in branches of Victoriabank commercial bank located in Ungheni, Balti, Orhei and Cahul regions and in Chisinau municipality.

 

According to the Oncology Institute of Moldova, in 2007 breast cancer was detected with over 750 women; more than 450 out of them died. Specialists say most of these deaths were caused by the patients’ delay in seeing the doctor.
